About BNI... Belonging to BNI is Like Having Dozens of Sales People Working For You
...because all of them carry several copies of your business cards around with them. When they meet someone who could use your products or services, they hand out your card and recommend you.* It's as simple as that! It's simple because it's based on a proven concept by BNI Founder, Dr Ivan Misner, called "givers gain." If I give you business you'll give me business and we'll both benefit as a result.
Last year, members of BNI passed over two million referrals . . .
(1) to educate members that networking is more about farming than it is about hunting–it is about cultivating relationships, and
(2) to better educate, guide, and inform members in the process of developing a word-of-mouth based business. Accomplishing these goals requires a commitment from the source (BNI) and from each member. The arena for achieving success is the chapter meetings. Members teach other members about their respective businesses, and share insights and experiences that have led to building their business through word-of-mouth and referrals.
Quick Tips During the meeting you will have a 60 second opportunity to introduce yourself and your business. The following are a few tips on how to make the most of this opportunity.
1. Introduce yourself clearly and concisely.
2. Be specific about your line of work and what your ideal client looks like.
3. Inform, don't sell to the room.
4. Be yourself. There is no substitute for authenticity.
5. Be an avid listener and take notes.
6. Follow-up. During the meeting you will have an opportunity to collect the business cards of all in attendance. When the meeting concludes you can meet with others and learn more about their business or schedule a one-on-one meeting.
